A National Law Firm With More Than 500 Cases

Formed in 1999, WWHGD is a national U.S. law firm with seven offices across the country. Its attorneys are licensed to practice in 25 states, with more than 500 cases tried since its founding.

WWHGD represents corporations, financial institutions, and other organizations across practice areas including corporate transactions, commercial litigation, construction, real estate, healthcare, medical malpractice, insurance, and labor and employment.

High-Volume Legal Project With Strict Compliance Requirements in 10 Days

In April 2026, WWHGD’s Miami office contacted Day Translations for the first time. The firm needed five legal documents translated from English into Spanish for active legal proceedings and transactions in Colombia. The documents totaled 141 pages and more than 32,000 words, including shareholder documentation, land titles, and trust and fiduciary paperwork.

The deadline was 10 days and had to comply with Colombia’s sworn-translation requirements. Any deviation risked invalidating the documents before Colombian authorities, putting the client’s legal timeline and the underlying transaction at risk.

A Workflow Built Around Colombia’s Legal Requirements

Because the project required both legal precision and jurisdiction-specific compliance, Day Translations treated it as a compliance-critical legal project from the first conversation. The team established the requirements and workflow before translation began, allowing each stage to be planned to meet the deadline.

Process

Project Workflow

Day Translations followed a proven workflow designed to ensure accuracy, legal compliance, and on-time delivery for use in Colombia.

  1. Requirements & Compliance

  2. Specialized Legal Linguist

  3. Translation & Terminology

  4. Client Review & Approval

  5. Certification & Apostille

Defining the Compliance Workflow

Before production began, Day Translations aligned with WWHGD on the intended legal use of the documents. That is Colombia’s sworn-translation requirements, certification and validity requirements, delivery formats, and timeline.

Identifying these upfront was important because the documents would ultimately go through a certification and apostille process, so each step had to account for what would come next.

Assigning Specialized Legal Expertise

Day Translations assigned a native legal linguist with experience in Colombian sworn-translation standards. This combined the legal-language expertise required for more than 32,000 words of sensitive documentation with an understanding of the requirements governing their intended use in Colombia.

Working With Certified Partners in Colombia

The project also involved specialized and certified local partners and agencies in Colombia.

Their role was to support the jurisdiction-specific compliance process and ensure that the appropriate local requirements were followed for the documents’ intended legal use to reduce compliance risk and resubmission issues later in the process.

Building Quality Control Into the Workflow

Consistency was particularly important across 5 related legal documents. Day Translations used translation memory and terminology databases to maintain consistency, coherence, and repeated content throughout the project.

Quality control also extended beyond linguistic consistency. The translated documents went through client review and approval before proceeding to the final apostille process, building an additional checkpoint into the workflow before the final stage.
